Scientific Games awarded UAE supplier licence

Key points:

– Scientific Games has received a lottery supplier licence in the UAE

– The licence was granted by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority

Scientific Games has been awarded a gaming-related vendor supplier licence in the UAE by the local regulator. It joins other competitor suppliers, including Aristocrat and IGT, in the emerging Middle Eastern market.

The supplier is now live in 50 countries in five continents, serving 150 lotteries across the globe and providing lottery products in the UAE, though currently, there is only one regulated lottery licence holder in the nation. This would be The Game LLC, which operates The UAE Lottery, which was launched in November 2024. The operator does seem to be expanding its offering, however, as in March it launched four new scratch card games with prizes up to AED 1m ($0.27m).

On the launch, Scientific Games President for International Business Michael Conforti said: “We are extremely pleased that Scientific Games has been authorised as a lottery supplier in the UAE with this licence. We look forward to putting our more than 50 years of expertise to work in the UAE to offer high-performing products that will responsibly help drive revenue for lottery programs supporting local communities and projects of national importance.”

Alongside IGT and Aristocrat, Novomatic also received a licence to supply in the UAE. Specifically, Novomatic received a gaming vendor licence, allowing it to supply land-based gaming products in the nation.

Good to know: Scientific Games has recently expanded on several of its partnerships with lotteries around the world. This includes the Florida Lottery, New Mexico Lottery and Lotería Electrónica

There has been speculation that the UAE gaming market may compete against Asia’s biggest gaming industry, Macau, due to a variety of factors. This includes its approval of online gaming, focus on international tourism and ease of accessibility for visitors around the world. Gambling Insider explored this in our Asia Focus issue.
